It’s housing fair day! Despite the long day ahead, I spend half an hour with the elder drinking coffee and talking current events. Then a shower and prepare for the day. A simple outfit: summer dolman sweater, whitewash boyfriend jeans and my red toe ring sandals. I spend six hours volunteering for the housing fair with good friends from my past work life. I start my shift ushering but end the day signing up constituents for counseling. The day goes by quick. Lunch was a chicken wrap and a can of Pepsi, compliments of the hosting organization. Honestly, I love attending these. After 19 years in the public housing industry, I feel like a rock star walking through those doors. I am a converted extrovert when I show up and I feel so fulfilled helping folks. I start random conversations with multiple people before wrapping up for the day. I am tired from being on my feet all day but when I get home I put away all the laundry I’d left folded on the bed, brush the cat, change his water and spend some quality time with him. I water my propagations, pick up the orders that arrived for the day with a brief check-in with the elder. Then it’s sitting in bed in pajamas, searching for a good horror flick. Oh I open a few packages from Amazon. Two hundred plastic embroidery floss organizers $5.99, chocolate colored workout leggings (which I’ll be returning, too small) and a replacement auxiliary cord for the car $6.95. I started winding random, loose floss on organizers while unsuccessfully watching horrendous horror movies. I have a mug of hot masala chai while online shopping for dried hibiscus flowers, citric acid and laundry detergent sheets on Amazon. I am addicted. I added an empty, a sample size Sulwhasoo facial lotion I’d bought as a set on layover in Korea. Instead of recycling the container, I am reusing it for a mini pill box for my purse. I managed to not feed any stray cats on the Purrr app today but tomorrow’s a new day.
Zero dollars spent today. $0 Woo-hoo!
